Striving for One

The piece I have inserted myself into is one of a series by the story-artists Kahn and Selesnick.  By using Adobe Photoshop I made multiple changes to the simple picture I inserted.  Tools such as the eye dropper, the blur tool, and modified paintbrushes were used to make this believable.  The most interesting process was getting myself to be one with the human shaped objects in the picture.
I interpreted the initial image as two people who are alone, yet one with each other.  I put in myself to show that it's very difficult to keep three as one, no matter how still or simple it seems.

Light Editting

Initial
This photograph is of a 90 degree wall with some  edging and a radiator.  I wanted to capture a very nice
contrast of light and dark.
Final
I wanted to edit the photograph in such a way that

each wall was its own place and that there is no relationship

between the two.  Each wall does have its own edging, but

they are on opposite sides to show individuality.

I also have a poem to go along with this, something that really expresses my idea of light and dark.

-->
Light Divides
Comparing the two,
That is light and dark,
One would think,
They astray from art.

Something natural,
Not artificial.

Not rendered,
Nor sculpted,
Nor man created,
They’re merely something,
That is unrelated.

But light itself,
In its own artform,
Makes shapes,
And shades,
New to our world.

A cornered wall,
Is something small,
But when light comes in,
I have a ball.

The shades it makes,
Can separate,
Each and every look I take.

One side light,
And one side dark,
This is nothing short of art.

Giving a simple thing,
Such different perspectives,
Makes the light itself,
Spew out directives.
Now don’t forget,
That dark itself,
Exists alone,
With nothing else.
But light comes in,
And he starts his show,
The darkness hides,
From the illuming glow.

The darkest darks,
Grow darker yet,
Darker,
And darker,
And darkness sets.

The contrast of the two extremes,
Gives us a view we’ve never seen,
So very light,
So very dark,
Now tell me once more,
How this is not art.
